Four men are being held in American Samoa in connection with the fatal beating of a 30-year-old man in Malaeimi on Sunday morning.
Matthew Alesana, Neemia Poamo, Misa Mino and Viane Ah-Mu made their initial appearances in the District Court on charges of public peace disturbance.
The government is working on filing felony charges against the defendants later this week.
It's alleged that rocks and a beer bottle were used to assault 30-year-old Sio Chico Faumui of Iliili.
He was found lying unconscious about five metres from the main road.
Police say alcohol was involved.
