A national women's organisation in the Marshall Islands has launched a new FM radio station in Majuro.

It broadcast for 12 hours last week.

Women United Together Marshall Islands is campaigning to prevent violence against women, promote women candidates for public office and improve the health and social conditions of low-income families.

Director Daisy Alik-Momotaro says its goal is to empower women and girls and to promote and preserve Marshall Islands culture.

The Canadian government aid agency, the Canada Fund, provided the NGO with 20 thousand dollars for radio equipment and training.
