Papua New Guinea's most notorious criminal, William Kapris, has been jailed for 30 years for his role in the country's biggest bank robbery.

In sentencing Kapris, Justice David Cannings says just a fraction of the nearly one million US dollars stolen from the Madang branch of the Bank South Pacific has been recovered.

The newspaper, The National, reports that Kapris's 11 co-conspirators were given sentences of between eight and 15 years.
