Papua New Guinea's new opposition leader, Belden Namah, says he offers the kind of fresh and bold approach which the country needs.
The MP for Vanimo/Green recently took over the leadership of the PNG Party from Sir Mekere Morauta and now assumes the top opposition role from him too.
Mr Namah was formerly with the ruling National Alliance party and served as the Forestry Minister until June last year when he defected to the opposition.
His rise through the opposition's ranks has coincided with the growth in the number of PNG Party MPs from three to 13 in just ten months.
"And they can see that we need firebrand and new energetic leaders into the future as far as PNG is concerned. My approach is that PNG must now really read what this current government and its coalition partners have done. Even though PNG is so rich in natural resources, the gap between the rich and poor gets wider and wider every day."
