Samoa's oppostion Tautua Party is expected to elect its new leader this week.
This comes after Vaai Papu Vaelupe lost his parliamentary seat in an Electoral Court ruling last Friday that found him guilty of bribery and treating.
The court's decision cannot be appealed.
Our correspondent in Apia, Autagavaia Tipi Autagavaia, says the party's deputy leader, Palusalue Faaopo II, is considered a front runner.
But he says any one of the party's MPs could take up the vacant role.
"It will be interesting to see the next leader elected for the opposition party, and they still have 12 MPs. They won 13 seats, but now the leader has gone as a result of the bribery allegations being proven in court."
