Vanuatu's new prime minister, Serge Vohor, his reinstated the acting director general of Public Utilities and Infrastructure, Jotham Napat, who'd been dismissed by the former government.
Mr Vohor took power at the weekend after a vote of no confidence in the government of Sato Kilman.
The prime minister was acting on the recommendation of his deputy and current utilities minister, Joshua Kalsakau.
Mr Kalsakau has told Radio Vanuatu the dismissal was illegal and made without consideration of the cost to government.
Mr Napat says he's happy to be re-instated but has filed a claim for damages for illegal dismissal.
