Fiji leader encourages talkback with administrators

3:07 pm on 20 April 2011

Fiji's interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama is urging the public to make use of the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation's talkback shows.

Commodore Bainimarama says he has directed all government Permanent Secretaries and senior government officials to be guests on the FBC shows in all three of Fiji's main languages.

He says this is an opportune time for the public to voice their concerns and clarify issues by having discussions with his officers on-air.

Public debate has been curtailed as Fiji has no parliament and for the past two years, the media is subject to censorship.
