American Samoa's member of the US Congess, Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, says he believes cuts to the 2011 federal budget will impact on funding for American Samoa.
The final budget that Congress approved and now on its way to the president for signing includes 38.5 billion US dollars in total spending cuts spread across many federal agencies, including the Office of Insular Affairs, or OIA.
According to the congressman, the OIA budget is reduced by about one million for the remainder of 2011.
Faleomavaega said the budget reductions could have potential impact on key funding areas for American Samoa.
Congressional funding for American Samoa included expenditures on education, the LBJ Hospital, public works and the college.
