The speaker of Israel's Knesset, Reuven Rivlin, paid an official one-day visit to Tonga recently to reinforce relations between the two countries.
Mr Rivlin had a special audience with King George Tupou V, and made calls on the Acting Prime Minister, Samiu Kuita Vaipulu, and the Speaker of Parliament Lord Lasike
Mr Rivlin also presented a large donation of medical supplies for the treatment of diabetes to the Ministry of Health.
Tonga and Israel have sustained diplomatic relations since 1977, with Israeli assistance focused largely on the health sector.
