The Nauru government has appointed 13 new part time probation officers as part of an exercise to better supervise offenders.
Each of the officers will have up to three people either on probation or serving community service to look after and mentor.
In a release the justice minister, Mathew Batsiua, says the hope is it'll lead to real and effective rehabilitation.
He says it'll be money well spent.
