The Papua New Guinea government is promising another 10,000 Papua New Guineans will get work on the liquified natural gas project this year.
It says more than 4,500 were involved last year and local participation is expected to triple in 2011.
The project says it is sourcing people through 14 Landowner Companies for activities such as construction labour, catering, camp management, security and transport.
Others worked in administration, procurement, logistics, ground transport and security, especially in Port Moresby.
To overcome a shortage in qualified construction workers, the project is providing training facilities in several locations, including at the newly opened Port Moresby Construction Training Facility.
This school is set to train up a 1,000 people a year.
