French Polynesia's pro-independence Tavini Huiraatira Party of Oscar Temaru says its no confidence motion to be discussed tomorrow is the territory's last chance to get out of its political and economic malaise.
The party says there is no alternative to the motion to prevent the territory's decline.
It says the pro-autonomy parties are now refusing to endorse the motion of the pro-independence side but the two camps have worked together in the past.
In a statement, the party notes that in 2008 such a coalition was ousted by pro-autonomy politicians after it was in office for 40 days.
It is unclear whether the motion will get the support of 29 members to oust the government of Gaston Tong Sang, who has the backing of only nine members.
There is disquiet about the political instability, with several individuals making public appeals to demonstrate.
