Tonga rugby team turn attention towards Churchill Cup

After ending their Pacific Rugby Cup campaign in winning form, Tonga rugby coach Isitolo Maka is already turning his attention towards June's Churchill Cup tournament in London.

Isitolo Maka says the players involved in the PRC will have a couple of weeks rest before returning to action with their local clubs.

He says four or five of those players will likely be selected in the Churchill Cup squad, which will also be an opportunity for some more established players, who didn't go on last year's European tour, to stake a claim in the team.

"I have to look at a few more players so that's pretty much the last time I will see a few play. Especially from overseas - some from New Zealand, some from UK and France. So that's probably the last time - pretty much after the Churchill Cup I will finalise my squad of 40 players for the World Cup and the PNC."

The six-team Churchill Cup tournament will also feature the national teams from the USA, Russia, Canada and Italy, as well as an England Saxons team.
