Tonga A finish on high as Fiji Warriors claim Pacific Rugby Cup title

Tonga A ended their Pacific Rugby Cup campaign on a strong note, upsetting Samoa A 15-13 in Sigatoka, to gift the title to Fiji Warriors.

The home team had already completed their matches after beating Samoa A in midweek, and had to rely on a Tongan upset to claim the title.

Tonga's coach, Isitolo Maka, says it was their best performance of the tournament, built upon through a strong opening 40.

"We've put them in a lot of pressure in the first half and we managed to score a try. We should have scored a few more but just little mistakes: we dropped the ball on the line; diving at the line ; and in one location a forward pass - just the last pass that would have given us the score probably even more if we controlled the ball a bit more but, like I said before, we just dominated the whole first half."

Isitolo Maka says his next focus is preparing Tonga for the Churchill Cup tournament in June.
