Two Samoan police officers have been charged with causing actual bodily harm to a 45-year-old mother.

The alleged assault took place inside the Police station at Lalomanu in January during the interrogation of Fa'asalafa Sione.

Ms Sione was questioned about the mysterious death of her daughter, which she has since been jailed for.

The Samoa Observer reports Assistant Police Commissioner Le'aupepe Fatu Pula wouldn't say who the officers are but the newspaper understands they are two women.

He says they have been suspended with pay pending a court decision, and will be terminated if they are found guilty.

They will appear in the District Court on 5 April.
