CNMI-bound parcels, cargo undergo extra checks for radiation

Mail and cargo bound for the Northern Marianas are now undergoing additional checks for radiation in Guam.

The move is to allay fears related to the quake-damaged nuclear power plant reactors in Japan.

A government press secretary says once the goods reach the CNMI, they will also be subjected to inspections by federal and local authorities using portable radiation devices.
