Fiji's hardware industry welcomes new prices

Fiji's Commerce Commission and the hardware industry are in support of the new hardware prices.

On Tuesday the commission met with the hardware companies to iron out a few issues before the new prices are implemented.

The Fiji Times Online reports the commission's determination on hardware materials should reduce the cost of building materials by as much as 25 per cent.

Spokesman for the companies, Bhavesh Kumar of the RC Manubhai Group said it was important they had the correct prices for the consumers.

But there is still uncertainty whether it would reduce construction costs for consumers, and whether hardware companies had contributed to the housing slump because of the exorbitant cost for building materials.
