Samoa's long-serving Prime Minister says if his party wants him to continue in the role he is up to the challenge.

Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi's HRPP party won a majority in the country's election, and his party is expected to endorse him as leader for another term.

Tuilaepa has been Prime Minister since 1998, and is 65, but says his health is good.

"I was just telling everybody else that I just had a medical examination and my medical doctor told me my heart is the heart of the bull, so I am happy to respond."

Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi says he will make an announcement of his cabinet in coming weeks.
