A Pacific Registries workshop in New Zealand aims to help develop the private sector in parts of the region.
The two-day workshop got underway in Auckland and brings together donors and stakeholders to help small island states develop and grow their registries.
The last such workshop was held in 2008.
The Asian Development Bank's Terry Reid says the bank is co-hosting the workshop in Auckland, with the New Zealand Companies Office.
"The workshop is to bring together many of the Pacific countries that are working to bring reforms to their private sector. And we're focusing here on the business registries. So we are looking at registries to support companies and also we are looking at secured transactions, or personal properties securities registries."
Terry Reid says close to 50 delegates have registered to attend, including representatives from Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu and the Federated States of Micronesia.
