Tahiti coach proud of team, excited for Beach Soccer World Cup

Tahiti coach Fabrice Marchand says he's proud of his team's triumph in the Oceania Beach Soccer Championship and says they'll be ready for the World Cup.

The Tiki Toa caused a major boilover on Sunday, upsetting defending champions Solomon Islands 4-3 in Papeete to win their first Oceania title.

It ends the Solomons' run of representing Oceania in the past four FIFA events and came after they were thrashed 4-1 by the Bilikiki the day before.

But Fabrice Marchand says they treated that game as a warm up for the main event.

"For us this match is a preparation game and we make some mistakes in this game and we analyse this game to prepare for the final. I think this game was very interesting to prepare the team tactically and mentally to the final."

Fabrice Marchand says Tahiti will now train hard to be ready for September's World Cup in Italy.
