Cook Islands economic taskforce wants wide participation

8:01 pm on 17 February 2011

The Cook Islands economic summit taskforce, set up by the Government to try and boost the economy, wants submissions from all sectors on how to foster growth.

The taskforce chair, John Tierney, says their ideas could be incorporated into the master plan to be made public during an economic summit in early April.

The taskforce has set up six focus groups which represent the key drivers of the economy, and Mr Tierney says if communities want to meet with a particular focus group, this can be arranged.

He says they want to ensure the broadest possible participation.
