The Solomon Islands deputy police commissioner, Walter Kola was sworn in as acting police commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force yesterday.
SIBC reports Mr Kola will now fill the position until the government appoints a permanent replacement for the police commissioner's post.
The position has been left vacant by outgoing commissioner Peter Marshall, who leaves today to take up his new job as New Zealand's police commissioner.
