New Zealand financial services company, Tower, has confirmed the dismissal of two staff from its Cook Islands branch, following an internal audit carried out in December.

The matter has now been referred to the Cook Islands police.

In a statement issued to local media, the Tower group spokesperson, Rob Flannagan, has confirmed the Cook Islands branch is now being managed by senior staff from New Zealand.

He says the company is in the process of recruiting new staff to fill the vacancies.
