PNG looking to hone flair at Wellington Sevens

With a few months under the belt Shane Howarth is now settled in his role as Papua New Guinea Sevens coach.

Howarth is preparing the team for the Wellington round of the IRB Series, which kicks off on Friday.

He's seen some growth in the team since taking charge prior to last year's Commonwealth Games but says they still have the ability to get crowds on their feet.

"It's really been trying to take a little bit of structure into them but not take away their flair so, we're not a big country per se in terms of size of our players so you wont see a big physical bash-up from us, we'll be trying to play a cagey kind of keep the ball away from the big guys game. Probably a wee bit of excitement mixed with a good deal of structure."

Papua New Guinea are pooled with New Zealand, Scotland and Argentina for the Wellington tournament.
