Solomon's MP welcomed back into Cabinet post

7:23 pm on 27 January 2011

The Solomon Islands government says it's welcomed back MP Mark Kemakeza MP, and says the door's open to others who left the coalition for no reason at all.

In recent weeks at least five cabinet ministers had deserted to the opposition but the government reports Mr Kemakeza was re-sworn in as minister for mines, energy and rural electrification at Government House on Thursday morning.

Prime minister Danny Philip says it's now clear MPs walked away from the government because of false promises, misinformation and confusing tactics from the opposition.

He says some of the MPs had been promised the world but have found they were empty promises.
