Two more Solomon Islands government ministers have resigned.

The Solomon Star reports that the minister for lands, housing and survey, Martin Sopage and the minister for public services Stanley Sofu handed in their resignations on Saturday.

This comes just days after Bodo Dettke and Douglas Ete quit the government led by Danny Philip.

Their defection has raised the number of those in opposition to 24.

The deputy opposition leader, Mathew Wale, says more defections are imminent which would give his side the numbers to form a new government.

The current administration was formed after the election in August.
