American Samoa village official arrested on drug charges

An arrest warrant has been issued for the village mayor of Auto and Amaua in connection with marijuana plants found near his home.

Pulenu'u Troy Fia-ui is scheduled to appear in District Court today.

Sources say two live marijuana plants, about one to two feet high, were found about 20 yards from the village mayor's home in Amaua.

Also found was drug paraphernalia.

He was taken in for questioning by police over the weekend after the marijuana plants were discovered.
