American Samoa plans tourism training

4:16 pm on 29 December 2010

The American Samoa Visitor's Bureau has scheduled tourism industry training next year to help hoteliers, airlines and tour operators.

The Visitor's Bureau executive director David Vaeafe says the bureau received stimulus funding of more than 200,000 US dollars.

Mr Vaeafe says a large percentage of the local travel and tourism industry in Pago Pago lacks the appropriate knowledge when it comes to producing contracts to sell their respective products overseas.

He says part of the training for hoteliers is how to structure their rates and look at the commission to be paid to a wholesaler.
