The acting managing director of Papua New Guinea's National Broadcasting Corporation says suggestions that the organisation's being gagged are incorrect.
The comment follows a management decision to send home on full pay the news director and veteran journalist Dorah Masueng along with a change to editorial policy whereby all stories are checked for balance.
Memafu Kapera says Ms Masueng's departure's an administrative matter that's been blown out of proportion.
"She has come off contract together with other directors of the national broadcasting coporation in some of the positions they hold and due to unbalanced reporting coming out of the NBC newsroom in a lot of sensitive issues I have requested for balanced reporting in the course of taking over the responsibilities from March this year."
Mamefu Kapera says a lot of negative things have been written about PNG and the NBC has a role to play in giving a positive image of the country.
