Solomon Islands PM reconciles with his sacked Forestry Minister

9:57 am on 8 December 2010

The Solomon Islands Prime Minister Danny Philip has held a reconciliation ceremony with his sacked Forestry Minister, Bodo Dettke.

Mr Dettke was sacked last Tuesday.

But the Solomon Star reports he responded by holding discussions with five other cabinet ministers when he returned from an overseas trip on Sunday.

The paper reports that the Prime Minister brought Mr Dettke back into his team yesterday by holding a Melanesian reconciliation ceremony with him inside the cabinet room.

The reasons for Mr Dettke's sacking remain unclear and Danny Phillip told the Solomon Star he would not comment on it further.

The paper says the swearing-in for a new Minister for Forest will take place this afternoon.
