An Asian tuna processor, with a plant in the Marshall Islands, has shown interest in operating in American Samoa.

The American Samoa governor, Togiola Tulafono, says while in the Marshalls last month, the company, Luen Thai, invited him to visit its site where it employs around 300 workers.

Togiola says the company wants to start a similar operation in American Samoa and his government is ready to support such a move.

He says the company also wants to export fish by aircraft to Hawai'i.
