A spokesperson for the Solomon Islands government says the ruling coalition's confident of retaining a majority, despite the sacking of the forestry minister, Bobo Dettke.
The decision to relieve the minister, who's also in the logging business, of his ministerial duties is reportedly in connection with his seizure of a ship carrying logs.
It follows yesterday's sentencing of the former fisheries minister, Jimmy Lusibaea, to almost three years in prison for assault and the earlier deaths of the MPs Toswell Kaua and Steve Laore.
