The Solomon Islands foreign affairs minister, Peter Shanel, says the government has endorsed the sending of ten police officers on United Nations missions.
Mr Shanel said the officers will hopefully participate in the UN security missions in Sierra Leone, Sudan or Haiti from early net year.
He says the remittances sent home and the experience gained will be a huge benefit to the country.
Mr Shanel says with the retirement exercise currently underway in the force it will be up to the police Mmnister and the commissioner to decide how many officers will be sent.
The deputy police commissioner, Walter Kola, says he supports the plan but on a smaller scale.
