The speaker of the Papua New Guinea parliament, Jeffrey Nape, is facing legal action for an alleged constitutional breach.
The Post Courier reports that the breach relates to Mr Nape presiding over parliament on July 20 this year when he was acting governor-general.
The suit comes from the opposition and its leader, Sir Mekere Morauta, says the constitution spells out clearly that the speaker shall not perform that role when he's the acting Governor-General.
Sir Mekere says the opposition's view is that the Constitution deems the governor-general's post a non-political one and that it should not be politicised.
During the July session, which lasted just over one day, Mr Nape controversially adjourned parliament so the government could avoid a vote of no confidence.
The opposition is now trying to build numbers for another vote.
