Northern Marianas judiciary starts implementing partial closure

Only two Superior Court associate judges in the Northern Marianas held hearings on Friday as the Judicial Council began implementing a partial closure of court operations.

The move is due to a funding shortfall.

The hearings that went ahead were conducted on Saipan and on Tinian.

Our correspondent in the Northern Marianas says many who wanted to renew their driver's licenses and obtain police clearances were caught out over the planned closure of the cashier's office.
