8:08 am on 12 November 2010

An unsuccessful candidate, Lopa Seti alleges in his election complaint filed with the Appeal court in American Samoa that the incumbent House representative for the District of Tuala-tai, Bill Satele practiced election fraud.

Satele won the election by approximately 300 votes but Lopa claims that not only were those 300 votes improperly obtained, but Satele and his agents engaged in election fraud in the process.

The complaint alleges that Satele arranged for the delivery of refrigerators under the government's solar program using government vehicles, to various families just before election day in the villages within district 16.

This is the only election challenge filed as a result of last Tuesday's elections.
