Solomon Airlines says it will launch an additional flight between Honiara and Western Province this Sunday.
The airline is adding the Dash 8 flight to Gizo, Munda and Seghe to cater for an increase in demand for travel to these areas.
Its Marketing and Promotions Manager, Vivian Wickham, says there are many reasons behind the growth in demand, including the scaling down of some boat services to the Western Province.
"There's an overspill from the usual boat customers. And then secondly there seems to be an increase in commercial activities in Gizo, Munda and Seghe. So that's obviously added to the mix. Plus also the steady flow of tourists to and from these main ports."
Vivian Wickham says while there are no current figures to show growth in the tourism industry, there's been a stronger push for visitors to the country.
