Fire destroys Fiji Law Society office

2:39 pm on 13 October 2010

The offices of the Fiji Law Society in Suva have been destroyed by a fire, but it is not yet known if the circumstances are suspicious.

The fire broke out at 2am this morning, destroying paperwork and computers.

The Society's president, Dorsami Naidu, says some of the lost records are irreplacable.

"Police and the fire department are now investigating and we, at the moment don't know if it was just a mishap, electrical fault, or whether it was, intentional. We don't know. And until the police carry out their investigation with the fire department. We will not know."

Dorsami Naidu says the Society will meet on Friday to begin to look for a new building.
