11:58 am on 13 October 2010

The Consumer Council of Fiji is to review consumer protection laws.

The Fiji Times reports a public notice issued by the council says the review will identify the barriers and constraints with the current consumer policy framework, legislative and institutional mechanisms which restricted protection to consumers.

Council media officer, Shelvin Prasad, says the review would identify strengths and weaknesses in the consumer policy framework and suggest ways to improve it and to empower consumers to effectively operate in the market.
