Media reports from Indonesia say the death toll from flooding in West Papua has passed 120.

The Jakarta Post reports that the death toll from the flash flooding, which began last Monday after ongoing torrential rain, now stands at 124.

AFP reports the death toll as high as 148.

Rescue workers are still searching for survivors from the floods that hit West Papua province's Teluk Wondama district.

Over 100 people are reportedly still missing and the chances of them being found alive is thought to be slim.

Many villages are at least partly submerged by mud and debris.

About 700 people were injured, 172 seriously.
