Lusibaea gets new bail condition for travel with Solomons PM

2:25 pm on 8 October 2010

The bail conditions of a new government minister and former Malaitan militia leader Jimmy 'Rasta' Lusibaea have been varied to allow him to travel overseas.

SIBC reports that the MP for North Malaita and Minister for Fisheries has appeared before the High Court so his bail conditions could be altered.

This will enable him to leave today to join the Prime Minister Danny Philip's delegation to Taipei.

Mr Lusibaea is facing charges of attempted murder with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault on a police officer and discharging a firearm in a public place following an incident which took place in 2002.

He will arrive back in Solomon Islands on October the 15th, and his case will begin at the High Court on November the 25th.
