Fiji police notice a drop in marijuana plants uprooted

Fiji police say there's been a major drop in the amount of marijuana uprooted compared to the same period last year.

The Officer in Charge of the Police Drugs Unit, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Rajeshni Mala, says 50 thousand plants were taken out last year.

This year that figure is more than sixty percent down.

Police put the reduction down to community support, but say Navosa remains a major area of marijuana cultivation.
