Police in New Caledonia say two people died in a crash of a microlight aircraft off the coast of the territory's north.
Police have retrieved the two bodies at a depth of nine metres and identified them as a 62-year old man and 26-year-old tourist from France.
They say the craft was on its maiden flight off the main island.
In the last 18 years, six people have died in microligt accidents in New Caledonia.
