American Samoans to vote for constitution amendments in one ballot

7:06 pm on 9 September 2010

American Samoans will have just one ballot to vote on more than one hundred amendments to their Revised Constitution.

The Election Office decided one ballot was the simplest way to get the public's response to the changes approved during the 2010 Constitutional Convention.

The Election Office is distributing booklets that outline all the approved amendments, ahead of the vote on November 2nd.

Our correspondent Fili Sagapolutele expects a lot of complaints.

"These are a lot of amendments and it's going to be very difficult for voters to digest each amendment itself and when you don't like one amendment and you like the other amendment here you're given one ballot to make your decision and that's going to cause a lot of problems."
