Vanuatu cricket side focussed on performance

2:03 pm on 7 September 2010

Vanuatu are focusing on putting in a good performance in their opening match of the East Asia Pacific Under 17 Cricket tournament in Port Vila today.

The team's up against close neighbours Fiji and High Performance Manager, Mark Coles, says while they play to win a committed performance is all they can ask for.

"We just celebrated 30 years of independance in Vanuatu and we've spoken about that at length and what it means to them. I think if our boys can go out there and just play with that pride and passion that we and I and Andrew the coach expect of them then that's all that we can really ask. It's a game of luck sometimes so maybe the coin will roll with us, maybe it will roll against us, but we will certainly be giving it our best for the country."

Papua New Guinea face Indonesia in today's other game.
