The family of the sole survivor of a plane crash in Papua New Guinea, Kelby Cheyne, say he could be released from hospital within days.
The 25-year-old co-pilot of the Trans Air charter flight that crashed on Misima Island, killing three Australians and a New Zealander, is in Townsville Hospital with a broken leg and bruising.
Mr Cheyne, who is a New Zealander, is being treated for heavy bruising and a broken leg.
PNG's Civil Aviation Authority's air safety director, Wilson Sagati, says a crew is on the island, off Milne Bay, to inspect the site but it is still too early to say what went wrong.
A team of three Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigators was expected to arrive on Misima today to help the investigation.
The dead were Chris Hart, a marine pilot, Trans Air co-owner and the plane's pilot, Les Wright, civil aviation flight operations inspector, Darren Moore, and an employee of the medivac company, International SOS, is yet to be named.
