The American Samoa Government is banking on having a Call Centre Training Facility operational by January next year.
Correspondents say the goal is to train more than 1,000 people and place them in full time jobs.
However, what is unclear at this point is the status of the call center industry in the Territory as there has been no word of any call centers during previous Fono hearings.
Nor has the government or private sector made any announcements.
Last week the government issued a Request For Proposal for a Call Centre Training Facility.
The move is part of local efforts to train and find employment for the roughly 2,200 American Samoans displaced by the September 29 tsunami and the closure of Samoa Packing cannery.
