Vanuatu government waives school fees for children of volcano-stricken Gaua

The Vanuatu government has granted school fees exemptions to parents on the island of Gaua in the North of Vanuatu.

The decision follows the damage caused by increased mud flow, ash fall and explosions from the Gaua volcano this year.

Parents of Gaua have been exempted from paying school fees for the second and third term of this year.

The exemption also applies to the children that are currently studying in other islands in Vanuatu, while their parents live in Gaua.
