The Fiji interim Government's Health Minister, Neil Sharma, says urgent action is needed to combat dengue fever.
He has launched a Dengue Strategic Plan in response to what he says is the increasing threat from dengue in Fiji, and to comply with international health regulations.
Fiji last had a major outbreak of dengue in 2008 but an epidemic 12 years ago affected an estimated 24 thousand people.
Dr. Sharma says the plan will strengthen the country's response.
