The first results have come through from the Solomon Islands general election, though in some other constituencies counting is slow.
Several constituencies have been able to return results relatively quickly with sitting MPs, Job Dudley Tausinga, returned in North Georgia and Seth Gukuna in Rennell/Bellona.
But the Electoral Commission chair, Sir Peter Kenilorea, says the counting system is contributing to delays as each box contains votes for all the candidates and all boxes have to be brought in before voting can begin.
He says counting is also slow in constituencies with a lot of candidates.
And Sir Peter says there are doubts that all results will be through by Sunday as had previously been expected.
